Ukubona LLC ๐๐#
A Platform for Personalized Risk, Navigational Decision Support, and Open Knowledge Architecture
โTo see clearly is to act wisely.โ โ African proverb
Welcome to Ukubona LLC, a public benefit company building an open platform for personalized decision support in clinical and public domains. Our mission is to empower individuals and professionals with tools that translate complex data into clear, interactive, and context-specific insights.
๐ฏ Why Ukubona?#
Ukubona means โto seeโ in Zuluโbut this is not passive vision. It implies discernment, interpretation, and the capacity to act under uncertainty.
Every domain that generates sufficiently granular dataโfrom medicine to education to policyโfaces the same challenge:
How do we transform big data into small, actionable decisions?
Ukubona offers an extensible, modular answer to that question.
๐ง What the Platform Does#
Ukubona allows users to input structured data (e.g., via forms, voice input, or API) and outputs dynamic risk visualizations using:
Kaplan-Meier curves
Multivariable Cox regression
Bayesian overlays (future)
Scenario comparisons
The platform is domain-agnostic. It is currently demonstrated using clinical data for living kidney donors, but its engine is portable to:
Oncology survival estimates
Cardiovascular risk tools
Surgical outcome prediction
Educational outcomes
Climate risk modeling
Social policy simulations
Anywhere there is enough data, Ukubona can model consequence.
๐งช Current Demo: Living Kidney Donors#
As a live demo, Ukubona currently features a model built from U.S. national registry data to estimate the perioperative and long-term risks for older living kidney donors.
This prototype emerged from the doctoral research and NIH K08-funded work of Dr. Abimereki Muzaale and has been adapted into a web app. But it is just one use caseโa proof-of-concept, not a limit.
๐งพ STEM OPT | E-Verify | Public Mission#
Ukubona LLC is:
โ A registered E-Verify employer
โ The sponsoring site for a STEM OPT Training Plan (Form I-983)
โ Building in public, with open-source transparency
โ Centered on applied data science, epidemiology, and ethical design
This Jupyter Book serves as an evolving scientific portfolio, training log, and platform narrative. Analyst: Vincent Jin. Supervisor: Dr. Abimereki Muzaale.
๐งญ The Ukubona Framework#
Our philosophy is navigational, not just computational. We operate through five symbolic stages:
Symbol |
Concept |
Metaphor |
---|---|---|
๐ |
Entropy & Unknown |
The Sea |
๐ข |
Cultural Inheritance |
The Ship |
๐ช๐ดโโ ๏ธ |
Resistance & Tools |
The Tinker & Pirate |
๐ฆโ๏ธ๐ |
Risk, Judgment, Grace |
Shark, Scissors, Lifebuoy |
๐๏ธ |
Meaning & Promise |
The Island |
This is not branding. Itโs a navigational theology for making sense of data, power, and consequence in real-world systems.
๐ฎ Roadmap#
Ukubona will expand to include:
Natural language input
QR-code based data entry
Mobile deployment (App Store, Google Play)
API services for researchers and clinics
Scenario-based storytelling modules
Domain-specific plugins
๐ Whatโs in This Book?#
This book is divided into three acts and a bibliography. Each page reflects a facet of the platformโtechnical, philosophical, ethical, and ecological.
You are not an average.
You are a scenario.
Navigate accordingly.
